test equipment

Tests for a safe, reliable and long-lasting product.

e-Powertrain are highly complex and potentially dangerous systems. Besides high voltage and current involved, the cells that make up the battery pack modules require special attention, as well as a specific experimental characterization to define their precise behavior at various operating conditions.

Test station / battery cells manufacturing

Battery cells must be rigorously tested before being assembled into modules or packs.
For this purpose, cell test and characterization stations can be designed to perform tasks such as:
- Vision system for visual checks
- Barcode / DataMatrix reader
- Cleaning of cell boards
- OCV measurement and comparison with the storage discharge curve
- Measurement of internal resistance (AC-IR)

Battery module test station

It is necessary to check the insulation resistance of the modules to avoid insulation losses during the joining of the cells and to check, if present, the electronic boards that allow communication between the cells and the BMS. Test stations for modules might include:
- OCV measurement of the module
- Acquisition of the module temperatures
- Measurement of insulation resistance (HV test)
- Visual inspection
- CSC / CMC control
- Traceability (data from the communication module to the plant data management system)

eBox assembly and test station

The e-Box contains the electric and electronic heart of the battery pack. Contactors, fuses, connectors, HV cables and control boards are usually located inside. The EOL test of the assembled component is essential to certify the correctness of the assembly process. Electrical, leakage and general functional tests are implemented (customized design to minimize production cycle time and meet ergonomics requirements).

Battery pack EOL

The EOL Battery Test System allows performing the customer defined test at the end of the series production line. The test is performed to ensure product safety, to verify full battery functionality, and to validate performance across power profiles. The main features of the EOL battery test system are:
- Electrical, functional, leakage and performance power tests
- Guaranteed traceability of components
- Collection of test data and communication with the customer data management system
- Generation of the test report
