MArcEL

The project “MArcEL – ELECTRIC AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY” aims to develop a fully integrated system composed of a tractor equipped with a generator and a series of fully electric equipments.

The aim of the project is to develop the necessary technologies for the control of electric motors and actuators, devices and architectures dedicated to the integration between the machines with their sensors, the preparation of the tractor, the generation system and remote data acquisition/storage systems. The tractor-machine electrified system will be born, therefore, equipped with all the elements necessary to complete integration in a precision farming context.

MArcEL involves 17 partners (4 large companies, 1 research centers, 2 universities, 10 small businesses) including leading companies in the production of tractors, engines, agricultural machinery and electronic engineering companies, computer engineering and the most prestigious universities in Piedmont.

  1. 100% ELECTRIC SYSTEM
A tractor equipped with a power-generating unit and a series of fully electric driven equipment.

  2. INNOVATION IN THE PRODUCTION CHAIN
Collaborating with 17 partners to build a new supply chain.

  3. PRECISION FARMING
We deal with environmental parameters, crop development, operations performed, operating conditions adopted, functional parameters of the tractor and machinery.

  4. SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS
The system will be safer, cheaper, more efficient, more sustainable. Everything is validated and certified in operating environments

The Marcel project incorporates some of the key elements of the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe 2027 programmes, in particular with regard to sustainable agriculture, energy efficiency, intelligent systems, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)reduction of production costs, operator safety and innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises.
From a strategic point of view, the project aims to bring within the productive fabric of Piedmont, of which the manufacturers of agricultural machinery make up an important percentage, the technologies and know-how necessary for the development of electrically driven machines and equipment equipped with the most advanced systems for precision agriculture.
Considering the strong interest of large global industrial groups in the sector towards this type of products and the strong competitiveness that will result already in the coming years, the results obtained with the MArcEL project will have very important repercussions. The companies involved will be in a position of strategic advantage, even compared to large international competitors, often stronger in terms of resources available for research and development.
